• Eliminate Outdoor Clutter: Bees love to use outdoor clutter to nest. If your yard is full of dead tree limbs, unused vehicles, appliances, and other large objects. It can attract bees, especially if they are butt up against your home, garage, or shed. Get rid of any clutter in your yard to eliminate potential nesting spots.

• Citronella Candles: Citronella is a popular deterrent for flies, mosquitoes, and bees. You can buy candles and burn them throughout your backyard while you are outside and even indoors. The strong scent of citronella has been known to repel bees from the area around it.

• Seal Any Holes: Walk around your home and check for holes and openings. Be sure to pay close attention to areas with wires or ventilation. Seal any holes or areas that are a quarter inch or larger with caulk, metal screens, or mesh. Check the eaves of your roof for holes and cracks too. Bees are commonly found in these areas.

• Remove Old Honeycombs: If you had a bee infestation in the past, but haven’t removed the old honeycombs, you will attract bees again. Get rid of any old honeycombs with the help of a pest control service.
